Sponsor a puppet

After years of entertaining audiences, many of our puppets are in need of a little TLC! Help the Museum preserve the puppets for generations to come by being the sole sponsor of a puppet's conservation: a collaborative process between the Museum’s staff and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Simply choose a puppet from the Museum’s collection to “adopt” and receive credit in the exhibition.

What's the hardest thing to repair on a muppet?

3
Roberta

Were you a Muppet fan growing up? What led you to a Museum Curator position?

3
Matthew

We've heard a lot about the puppets that will be part of the exhibit, but what other kinds of artifacts pertaining to the world of Jim Henson will be seen?

2
Erica

I'm surprised many of these original puppets still exist. How big were the Henson storages and where have the original puppets been hiding all these years. I remember hearing that many would get discarded because of the disintegrating foam and so forth.

2
Jesse

When will the Jim Henson Exhibit open?

2
Jennifer

Will the exhibition include any interactive displays? Years ago there was a traveling Henson exhibit which included a small stage with Muppets where visitors could work with the puppets just like the performers using video screens. We had great fun being Muppet performers even if just for a few minutes. Would love to do that again!

2
Lily

In addition to the preservation and exhibition of the artifacts, are there any photos or archival footage of Jim Henson & co in the process of making the puppets? It would be so great to see the artistry and skill of the Creature Workshop preserved, too.

2
Jesse

What sorts of materials are found in the collection, and are there any special handling or conservation requirements for the exhibit? How will you manage the changing environments of a travelling exhibit that could affect older or more fragile materials?
From my partner: Are there any "lost" muppets in the collection? That is, muppets that have not been shown in broadcast material?

2
Jesse

Will the Muppet caricatures of Jim Henson, Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson (AKA The Country Trio) be apart of the Exhibit?

2
Jesse

Will the Museum eventually show a screening of Frank Oz's new documentary "Muppet Guys Talking"? I really wanna see that film someday!

It would also be cool if Frank Oz, Fran Brill, Dave Goelz and Bill Barretta were invited to the screening for a Panel Discussion and or a Q&A Session afterwords.

Also, I'm really excited about the Jim Henson Exhibit at MOMI! I've been a HUGE Muppet fan for years and I can't wait to see it!

2
Marina

Will the SNL puppets be part of the exhibit?

2
COLLEEN

Will there be puppeteers and their Muppets at the opening of the exhibit? I would LOVE to see Kermit and the gang! Also, Will there be Muppet/Henson merchandise for sale at the museum?

Erica

Did the Muppet Performers travel with the headbands ? Because there's behind the scenes footage of Frank Oz performing with the Muppet Show headband when filming for Sesame Street in NY.

1
Erica

Will there be the original Muppet Builders ( Muppet Show / 70s and 80s and 90s era ) coming to the exhibit ?

1
Erica

Will there be special guests coming to the exhibit opening like Frank Oz ( especially since he just recently made a documentary " Muppet Guys Talking " , Brian Henson , Muppet Writers Jim Lewis or Kirk Thatcher , Dave Golez , Steve Whitmire , Lisa Henson / Cheryl Henson , Karen Prell , Fran Brill , Michael Frith and Kathryn Mullan , any of those people ? Will they be there ?

1
Erica

Will there be a film screening and if so will you be showing rare stuff like the uncut CBS Muppet Show Pitch Reel from 1975 for example ?

Were you surprised at how fast you guys reached the Kickstarter goal?

Will there be any Frackle puppets from "The Great Santa Claus Switch" and "The Muppet Show" in the exhibit?

1
Jesse

Besides Big Bird, are there any other Full-Body Puppets that will be in the exhibit?

1
Elizabeth

I'm also interested to know what Roberta asked - have you been a lifelong Henson fan or has this new exhibit been a big introduction to the Henson world?

Also, can you talk at all about the design/layout of the exhibit? How will it be organized?

1
Chris

In addition to all the wonderful Muppets and props that will be on display, will you have any behind the scene items like cast & crew gifts or licenced merchandise?

1
Lauren

The interest in and love of Jim Henson is apparent by the tremendous success of your Kickstarter campaign. To what would you attribute this?

1
Mary

How will you decide which cities/venues will host the traveling exhibition? Is there a process for communities to make a request? (Is the schedule already filled?)

Rob

Are there any pieces/props from Sesame Street specials like " Christmas Eve On SS" that will be on display?

Which Muppets were in the worst shape? And costed the most to repair?

1
Eugene

Were there popular puppet characters that were beyond the point of being restored? At what point do you decide to start from scratch to create a new version of the puppet vs restoration?

1
Richard

Will the exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image share any of the pieces from the Smithsonian Institute's Jim Henson's Fantastic World exhibition? And if yes which ones? Also will the exhibit be static or constantly changing

1
Alissa

Will the items in the traveling exhibit be on display at MOMI sometime? Also, where is the traveling exhibit stopping after Seattle? Thank you!
